This work is a spatial sculpture that metaphorically conveys the sensations and spatial context experienced while walking a full circle around Nodeul Island through the device of a “gap.” By radically restricting visual freedom to a 2mm slit, it creates a place dedicated to the act of seeing. Designed to allow viewers to observe the surrounding environment only through this narrow opening, the space is not merely a structure but another spatial sculpture in itself. Located in the heart of the city, Nodeul Island is a point where diverse landscapes of Seoul intersect. Rather than presenting this spectrum in a single panoramic view, the work encourages a more delicate and attentive appreciation through a deliberately limited field of vision. The expansive scenery is boldly cut away, leaving only fragments that filter through the slit.
이 작업은 노들섬을 한 바퀴 걸으며 경험했던 감각과 장소적 맥락을 ‘틈’이라는 장치를 통해 비유적으로 전달하고자 한 조각이다. 시각의 자유도를 극도로 제한한 2mm의 틈을 통해, ‘보는 행위’를 위한 장소를 만들었다. 작은 틈 너머로 주위 환경을 바라보도록 설계된 이 공간은, 단순한 구조물이 아닌 또 하나의 공간적 조각이다. 도심 한가운데 위치한 노들섬은 서울의 다양한 풍경이 교차하는 지점이다. 이 작품은 그 스펙트럼을 한눈에 조망하기보다, 오히려 제한된 시야를 통해 더욱 섬세하게 감상하도록 유도한다. 넓게 펼쳐진 풍경은 과감히 잘려 나가고, 오직 틈 사이로 스며드는 장면만이 남는다.
