The large spatial quadrilateral formed through the connections between the four small squares installed across the RCA is generated differently in each viewer’s mind. Each person imagines a distinct sculpture shaped by their own movement, spatial awareness, and partial knowledge. Those who do not know the precise locations of the squares encounter only a fragmented version of the work. Only RCA members, those with access to the women’s restroom, or individuals who receive information through personal proximity to the artist can fully understand all four coordinates. Information is naturally distributed across different layers of gender, affiliation, and social relationship, leaving the “information-poor” with only partial experiences. In this way, the work reveals the close entanglement of knowledge and power: location information becomes a mechanism through which access, exclusion, and hierarchical relations are produced. Under conditions of asymmetrically distributed information, can we claim to be seeing the same thing? And can a sculpture that floats without a complete form—existing differently in every mind—still be called a sculpture?The work poses these questions at its core.
RCA에 설치된 4점의 작은 정사각형의 연결을 통해 만들어지는 공간사변형의 규모가 큰 공간적 형상은 관람자의 머릿속에서 각기 다르게 생성된다. 관람자는 각자의 동선, 공간 감각에 따라 서로 다른 조각을 떠올린다. 이때 위치정보의 양에 따라 정사각형의 위치를 모르는 사람은 분절된 조각만을 경험한다. RCA 구성원들, 여성 화장실에 접근 가능한 이들, 혹은 작가와의 친밀성을 기반으로 정보를 제공받은 사람들만이 그 좌표를 온전히 이해할 수 있다. 정보는 자연스럽게 성별·관계·소속성에 따라 다른 층위에서 배분된다. ‘정보가 결핍된 자’에게는 파편화된 경험만 남겨두는 방식으로 지식과 권력의 친밀한 결합을 드러낸다. “정보가 비대칭적으로 분배되는 조건에서 우리는 같은 것을 보고 있다고 말할 수 있는가?” “ 완전한 형상 없이 정신속에서 부유하는, 즉 모두가 달리 인식하는 실체없는 조각은 과연 조각이 될 수 있는가? 작품은 그 질문을 근본적으로 제기한다.
